The poem was composed, by the artist to accompany the painting above "And the Cuckoo sang near Cranberry Rock" on Monday June 1st 2020.
And the Cuckoo sang
Near Cranberry Rock,
And we from Town
Were in Lockdown,
Fearful of illness and
Faces with masks
But Nature heads not
Our pointless tasks
to keep apart in isolation,
Helpless victims of desolation.
The cuckoo sings to find his mate,
And Nature burgeons in full spate
Scattering golden blooms
On Shropshire hills.
And Lark ascending into blue
Fills my heart with joy renewed,
That Spring will come again each year
With fresh colour, hope and cheer
