After studying fashion design at St. Martins in the 1970’s, I worked in the fashion industry in London and then moved to Shropshire and ran a small fashion business out letting to boutiques. In 1990 I graduated with a degree in Fine Art at Cheltenham College of Art and a PGCE in art and design. As a painter in watercolours and oils I exhibited in Shropshire, Herefordshire, Oxfordshire, the RSBA Birmingham, Moma Wales and The Green Stage Gallery Worcester. I also taught art part-time for 20 years in a school in Herefordshire. In 2008 I completed a short course in printmaking. Since becoming a printmaker my work has become more illustrative and incorporates a love of pattern and texture. The subject matter originally was influenced by Aesops fable The Crow and the Pitcher and typically features the interaction between birds and their unusual poses. My preference for collagraph printing is due to the wide range of materials one can use to create textures and tones and it also allows me to mix processes together. I find layering different monotypes with the final intaglio print gives me the results I am looking for. In 2016 I exhibited at The Print Shed as part of hArt week in Herefordshire and the Aberystwyth Printmakers spring exhibition.
